Early intervention is designed to help those who are misusing or abusing drugs and/or alcohol but do not meet the diagnostic criteria for a substance use disorder and admissions criteria needed to admit the person into treatment. Through the use of a structured substance abuse education model early intervention services have been shown to be an effective way to reduce or eliminate the progressive nature of substance abuse. SOS early intervention professionals will help individuals and/or your loved one understand the consequences of abuse and/or addiction, educate them and empower them to make the necessary changes for a healthy, sober life. To accomplish this, SOS’s early intervention services are designed to help educate clients and/or their families to achieve the following:
  • Assess the severity of their substance use.
  • Increase the clients knowledge and ongoing awareness of what are “healthy vs. unhealthy limits.
  • Recognize the harmful effects of drug or alcohol misuse and abuse
  • Identify progression of use, abuse and dependence
  • Identify risk factors and how to manage them
  • Develop strong coping skills
  • Learn how to handle peer pressure
  • Improve one’s readiness to change
  • Develop and implement a change plan

Remember, it’s never too soon or too late to intervene.  Don’t wait for you or your loved one to hit “rock bottom” — the longer you wait, the harder it is to treat as the mind and body become dependent.  With the support and guidance of the early intervention professionals at SOS, early intervention services can help individuals and/or your loved one get back on track and prevent the pain and suffering of addiction before it has a chance to take hold.

SOS's outpatient services is for clients identified in early to middle stages of addiction. The basic elements of the Outpatient approach are group and individual counseling sessions (early recovery skills, relapse prevention and building social support) Group and individuals sessions are delivered over 6-12 week period. At SOS, virtual therapy is accessible from the comfort of your home. You will receive the same quality of care that you would during in-person sessions. Due to everyday responsibilities and obligations, this may be a good option for you as many people can’t attend an in-person program regularly. Virtual therapies and other online recovery programs allow you to receive the addiction services, support and help you need. The basic elements of the virtual outpatient program are group and individual counseling sessions (early recovery skills, relapse prevention and building social support), These sessions are delivered over a 3-day or a 6-12 week period.
