- Assess the severity of their substance use.
- Increase the clients knowledge and ongoing awareness of what are “healthy vs. unhealthy limits.
- Recognize the harmful effects of drug or alcohol misuse and abuse
- Identify progression of use, abuse and dependence
- Identify risk factors and how to manage them
- Develop strong coping skills
- Learn how to handle peer pressure
- Improve one’s readiness to change
- Develop and implement a change plan
